Schönbrunn castle is more than just an impressive building; it is a stately, magnificent complete work of art. Visit a fascinating memorial of baroque culture – declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

You’ll be amazed during your visit to Schönbrunn castle by the unbelievable number of rooms (1441). You get to see 45 of these rooms. Your eye will be drawn immediately to the magnificent interior design in Rococo style. White surfaces with are decorated ornaments which are 14 carrot gold leaf – it’s hard to describe just how luxurious and opulent it is. Hanging from the ceiling above your head are the giant Bohemian crystal chandeliers, which reflect the light a thousand times over. You’ll be amazed by Emperor Franz Josephs’ work room, since, in contrast to the extraordinary magnificent official rooms are simply and rather frugally equipped. When you are striding through the hall of mirrors don’t forget that Mozart was already playing music here at the age of six and was delighting people with his prowess. Schönbrunn castle is a truly historical place - Napoleon was conferred in Schönbrunn castle, Maria Theresia held secret conferences and the end of the monarchy was sealed with a signature here when in 1918 Emperor Karl the 1st signed the abdication of the government. An absolute highlight in the castle is the Million room. Ceiled with rose wood, furnished with valuable miniatures from India and Persia, this most beautiful Rococo style room stretches out in front of you. After you have been amazed by the building you shouldn’t miss out on seeing the park at Schönbrunn castle. Depending on how much time you want to spend walking around; you could go for a short or a long walk, in any case allow an hour – it’s worth it! The labyrinth is entertaining for young and old.  It was re-built in keeping with the historic plans. Families with children will love a trip to the zoo in Schönbrunn, one of the oldest zoos in the world.
